We’ve Got Rotation!

We’ve Got Rotation!

Hey Friends! So, a looooooooong time ago when I described the plan we have for our space, I mentioned that we would be building/creating/engineering a piece of machinery that would allow our television to swivel to face either the living room or the dining room and allow it to move up to our loft space!…….Ooooops!  Did I say we?  Yeah, I meant Tim.  I wouldn’t have the first clue about how to engineering something like this!

After Tim explained things to me, I had a general idea of how the piece would work, but I didn’t bother crowding my brain with the specifics because I knew Tim had it in the bag!  It’s taken a while for Tim to get around to working on the piece, but he’s finally found some time to get things going!  As you can imagine, there are quite a few steps that go into creating a piece like this.

First Tim needed to build the brace that the TV would be mounted to.  He did this with steel, both for the form and the function of it.

Once he had all the pieces cut and welded together, it was time to make it swivel.  Tim used a couple of different pieces (which he will detail in another post) to allow the center piece to pivot and rotate!

Next, it was time to place the piece in it’s permanent home, above the fireplace!

What’s next?  So, now that we’ve got rotation, it’s time to get elevation! In the next few days, Tim will be working on mounting the TV to the brace and getting it to move vertically so that we can finally watch TV in bed on those lazy Sundays! Woo hoo!  Can’t wait!

‘Til tomorrow!

PS- A lot of you have asked about how the wiring will work.  Have no fear, Tim has thought of everything and all the wires will be concealed as well as functioning!  Stay tuned to see how Tim will work his magic!
