Feathers have been around since literally, forever. And lately, they are showing up in the design world more and more. It doesn’t matter the size, color, natural/unnatural, whatever it may be, they are always so pretty and unique. Just like snowflakes! They may all look the same in the big picture, but each and every single one is uniquely different. It’s pretty amazing!
So what happens when we incorporate feathers in design? Here are a couple ways I have done it.
My DIY Feather Fringe Chandelier…
Another different, but still feather chandelier from this makeover….
Feathered African Juju hats are often used as beautiful pieces of art…..see how I diy’d this one below here!
Or buy one (like the one below) from Table Tonic!
Here are some other ways you’re seeing feathers float into design…..
Of course, Anthro is always on top of trends (when they’re not setting them). Their recent feathered jewelry and quill bottle opener were whimsically wonderful!
And this Mara Hoffman Bedding is gorgeous!
I’m currently looking for some feather wallpaper. This look from Mini Moderns is one option….
What do you think? Are feathers a go-to for you? I hope they are for Michelle M, because she is the winner for the feather fringe giveaway! Michelle, shoot me an e-mail with your address!
See you soon!
Kara- I’m am preparing to submit my resume to Anthropologie- while I don’t have a degree in Art I do have quite a bit of experience in set design, and have taken several art classes. I feel very confident I would be a perfect pick for a DC with the company. I see things most people don’t in just about everything I come across. Most of my work history does not reflect my creative talents. I have pictures of my work from plays to party’s to venue set ups. How do I put my best foot forward? Sould I design I website to refer too. I realize they don’t pay much but this would be a stepping stone to my dream. I’ve raised my kids and need to get my foot in the door. Any suggestions?
